about

Isolation is a funny thing. When you're submerged it can feel blissful, womb-like. A thick padding between you and the world. Weeks and months can pass as you let your mind roam free. At some point you realise you have gotten to know your true self more than ever before.

It is tempting to linger here. Here is understanding, here is control. But something gnaws you. A gentle nag in the back of your mind that conjures a prior, restless spirit. A gleeful risk and an impulsive flight. You know you must resurface soon.

But the way out is not easy. The soft sands of isolation are heavenly to lie in, but travelling across them is laborious. You must clamber and climb as currents shift beneath your feet. It is exhausting.

You notice how different once-familiar landmarks now feel. "Has this all changed, or have I?". The nag in the back of your mind persists and know you must press on with your life. But you can't helping thinking you've left something behind. Something valuable that once made this all make sense.

Years pass, you trundle on. A piece of you still dwells in the comfortable memory of seclusion. You carry hope like a candle, for what else is there? It's best not to think about it too much.
